Follow My Lead To Solid Ground

The Face of Mt. Hood

Well Folks! It sure has been a while. First of all let me apologize to all my readers for being completely boring lately and not posting at a rate anything near the schedule I had hoped to post when starting the blog. To be completely honest, my day job has just been rather hectic lately and I haven’t really put in a lot of time in creating new content for the Blog.

I am hoping this will change and I hope to start today!

I am currently writing this post from my hotel room in Portland OR where my Wife and I are vacationing and checking out this gorgeous area!

As you can see from the photo above, this is Mt. Hood. I took this picture on the final approach for landing into Portland’s airport on our way in. The great introductory fly-by tour was complements of Southwest Airlines. I think it has been a wonderful first day, and we are here for several more days so more pictures and posts to follow.

My mission is when I am back from vacation to keep up with a more regular and frequent posting schedule. I don’t necessarily see my day job getting any easier or less time consuming, but I feel I need to make time for the readers and have been “dropping the ball” on that recently.

Anyways, back to this vacation and the photography goodness to follow. I am in a photographer’s heaven here! So many things to take pictures of, and the scenery and beautiful features of the area are amazing! This holds true for both the urban settings as well as the more nature/wilderness settings.

For you photographic equipment geeks out there, I was able to rent a Canon 70-200 f/4L IS USM lens from my good friends at Lensprotogo. So far all I have to say is, WOW! I have been shooting for one day with this thing and it is absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to see what comes out of this lens on the rest of this trip! I also am still carrying my kit lens (18-55mm) for some wide angle shots, but I keep wanting to go back to the sharpness and quality that I am seeing when shooting with the 70-200. I will have more about my rental experience with lensprotogo.com in a future post, but I believe it is worth every cent I paid for it and the people at lensprotogo were great. They took the time to answer all my questions, and really helped me pick the perfect lens for this trip!

So how can you keep up with all the photos and such coming out of the Pacific Northwest from your’s truely over the next few days? Well check out this blog of course, as well as the following links to my other photos on Flickr:

I am lucky enough to have such a wonderful wife! Jill has been noticing my increasing interest in Photography, and decided to surprise me with a weekend trip up to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. It was gorgeous, and peak foliage weekend! I got some great photos! I am still processing most of them, so I will be posting the rest soon on my zooomr stream!

Thanks so much for doing this for me Jill!
